Becoming a Swimming Official
The first step to being an official is to activate the officials account that was set up for you through Swimming Canada. When you receive the activation email, please login to the link provided https://registration.swimming.ca/login.aspx and enter the credentials in the email. If you remember your username from previous years’, you can simply click forgot password and your password will be emailed to you. You will need to ensure all your info is correct and that you save any updates. You will also need to complete the consent section and save it.
Many Officials Training courses can be completed online through Swimming Canada or in person through the various clinics offered by Vancouver Pacific Swim Club. Vancouver Pacific Swim Club encourages families and guardians of swimmers to progress through the officiating positions as their swimmers advance through the groups.
If your swimmer is in any of the Mini Makos Groups...
All Mini Makos group parents are expected to complete the Level I Red Pin requirements, Intro to Officiating (Timekeeper) as well as the Safety Marshal Clinic. These are typically offered together or can be completed online (anyone 12 years old or older is able to take this course!). To receive the Level l Red pin you must just complete these two courses. Please ensure that you complete two successful deck evaulations as well. These can be done at the same swim meet over two different sessions.
If your swimmer is in the Youth or Intro to Competition Groups...
All Youth and Intro to Competition group parents are expected to complete the requirements above for their Level I Red Pin, complete the Stroke & Turn Judge courses and two successful deck evaluations.
If your swimmer is in one of the Junior Groups...
All Junior group parents are expected to have completed the above two requirements and obtain their Level II White Pin by taking at least one additional Officiating course (see below) and doing two successful deck evaluations in that area:

If your swimmer is in one of the Senior Groups...
All Senior group parents are expected to have completed Level I and Level II and be working on their Level III or IV courses.
You should complete at least three more of the following clinics with two successful deck evaluations per clinic area:
